SUMMARY

Toni Lynn Chinoy is the owner and creator of Harlan-Evans, Inc, a unique twenty-two year-old change management consulting company using both analytical and intuitive thinking to significantly improve individual and organizational performance.

Toni has written numerous texts and training programs on how to think about problems in order to solve them effectively. Her program “The Logic of Leadership” serves as a complimentary essential to any training effort. Her subsequent books and programs on Leadership, Power Games, Handling Critical Moments and Managing Bullies are also powerful in their ability to help those who experience them to be more effective managers, leaders and individual participants. We have delivered our training at all levels successfully, including in tense Labor/Management stand offs.

Harlan-Evans, Inc is a consulting and training firm specializing in leadership development and intuitive decision-making processes. Harlan-Evans' two day Logic of Leadership program has been designed for, implemented and effectively used in a wide range of businesses. The systems designed by Harlan-Evans for organizational change have been enthusiastically endorsed by people at all levels within organizations.

Toni started the company in 1986 with a contract with Household Finance company. Within five months she sold a contract to GM Truck and Bus to facilitate a Team Concept with union and management for the plant. The contract grew into a commitment to train all 3000 employees in the team concept. Other professional assignments since that initiation include:

Executive Coach

Toni coaches many senior leaders in government and corporations. Most of her clients work with Toni on a retainer basis over several years. Toni has worked as an executive coach for companies including Avon, General Motors, Microsoft,Lucent Technologies, Amoco, Northwest Airlines, Farm Credit Services, Kellogg, Boeing, Godiva, Microsoft, Rockwell, Bayer and many others.

Facilitator/Designer

  • Facilitator for GM Leadership Now process which trained 2000 top GM executives in leadership processes.
  • Recruited, screened and trained facilitators for ongoing implementation of Decision-Making and Presentation Skills programs for Amoco Corporation.
  • Designed and Implemented Team Concept for the Cadillac Corporation under John Gretenberger, (General Manager) and Peter Gerosa, (General Sales Manager).
  • Delivered Leadership program to entire GMAC field sales force.
  • Consulted with Buick Marketing and Sales organization doing one-on-one and group leadership development for period of 2 and 1/2 years under Darwin Clark, (retired as Head of Dealer Relations in 2004)
  • Designed and Implemented Customer service Program for Truck and Bus sales organization under John Rock,(General Manager).
  • Presentation Skill development for GM public Affairs Office, Washington D.C.
  • Facilitated Republican Congressmen through interactions with business leaders for the Congressional Institute at Congress of Tomorrow in 1988.
  • Provided facilitators for Saginaw Steering Leadership Development process designed and run by the University of Toledo.
  • Designed and implemented massive training project for the Amoco Corporation that covered 30,000 employees, spanning three years. This project included designing content and videos, screening and recruiting a team of 85 facilitators, scheduling hundreds of sessions, quality control and creating a summary of the results of the project for the Light Oils Division of Amoco. The evaluations of all participants of the sessions showed a 95% satisfaction rating of the training overall.
  • Consultant on GM's One Price Selling initiative in California in 1994. One of three companies asked to bid on the implementation of the project. Partnered on bid with J.D. Powers.
  • Worked with Rockwell HR team to identify culture change initiatives within their department and the company.
  • Worked with Bayer Animal Health Care Marketing group to integrate more effectively into the organization.


Conflict Resolution

  • Facilitated Arvig Communications Company through intense family conflict. Ultimately the company completed a sales process which had been stagnating due to the conflict. Implemented Logic of Leadership for entire organization including board of directors.
  • Facilitated Coal Miners through LMPCP process for Peabody Coal, as well as Cypress Coal Mines. (This is a joint process with management and union leaders for creating efficiencies in the mines. This process was sponsored jointly by the United Mine Workers and the management of the mining companies at a time when relationships were strained due to contract negotiations. Facilitated Wabash Coal LMPCP core group through four day leadership process. Facilitated Marissa Mines through scheduling crisis. Implemented Logic of Leadership in several mines.)
  • Facilitated two entrepreneurial companies engaged in a joint venture through intense conflict which threatened to dissolve a very lucrative partnership.
  • Facilitated Airlines Division CEO and International Machinist Co-Chairman through conflict over efficiency study resulting in the loss of jobs to the union. Created greater understanding and trust through the facilitation. As a result, union Co-Chair recommended Harlan-Evans' Leadership process to their Leadership School in Placid Harbor, Maryland.

Organizational Change Agent

  • Designed consulting mechanism to identify organizational thought processes to help identify patterns destructive to business objectives. This process has been used by General Motors, Kellogg, and in the Amoco Corporation in conjunction with the Harlan-Evans Leadership development process (Logic of Leadership) and Team Building. It has also been used in Northwest Airlines, Ralston Purina, and many other organizations.
  • Designed and implemented change process for Weisman Corporation that was implemented from the Leadership Group through the entire organization. As a result of success of project was asked to become advisory board member.
  • Helped create design for employee incentive program for Ameritech.
  • Worked on several projects for the new long distance division for Ameritech.
  • Worked on team to assess SATURN Corporation's status with union and with General Motors Organization.

Leadership Development

  • Developed and implemented one-on-one process for helping high level leaders overcome style issues. Client companies utilizing this service: General Motors, Household Finance, Northwest Airlines, Farm Credit Bureau, Weisman Corporation, EDS, Amoco Corporation, and others.
  • Designed unique and powerful Leadership model based on fundamental increments of evolution of masterful leaders. The concept is the basis for the text What to do when it Rains, Part I and Part II. The text helps leaders determine a course of action during crisis.
  • Designed unique tools for Leaders to develop intuitive abilities.
  • Created mathematical model using vector analysis to help leaders understand both the costs and the solutions to Power Games.

Writer

  • Created a monthly newsletter focusing on organizational change issues.
  • Wrote and published two-volume management series focusing on fundamentals of leadership and organizational change titled, What to do when it Rains, A Handbook for Leaders in Crisis and What to Do When It Rains, a handbook for organizations in crisis.
  • Article published in Directors and Boards on Coping with Change during Mergers and Acquisitions. Winter 1994
  • Article published in Directors and Boards on Diffusing the Board Room Bully, Spring 2005.
  • Published text on Corporate Power Games. To address the issue, created a mathematical model to identify root causes and resolve corporate Power Games: From the Balcony, new perspectives for the old power games.
