Leadership

Harlan-Evans, Inc. has a new leadership workshop designed specifically for serious students of leadership. Based on the leadership model described in Toni Chinoy's book, What To Do When It Rains, a handbook for leaders in crisis, this seminar helps individuals understand and fully utilize their personal power. The leadership model provided in What to Do When It Rains has proven effective for countless leaders, including Ann McLaughlin, retired chairman of the Aspen Institute, who describes the impact of the model in the book's forward.

Work with a small group of executives on those aspects of leadership most critical to powerful decision-making.

Curriculum

Mastering Decision-Making: This element of the program examines the personal decision styles of the participants. The program is designed to help the individuals understand the relationship between the quality of their decisions and their ability to control state of mind, their reactions to stress, and their personal confidence around any given issue. Technique for mastering those circumstances which influence decisions will be a major emphasis of this portion of the program.

Creating a Clear Leadership Identity: A leader's effectiveness is often determined by his or her ability to develop a distinct identity in the minds of others. In this section, participants will focus on their ability to interact consistently with their environment. The individual's power to respond appropriately to stimuli from the environment and his or her clarity about the personal statement made by his or her responses is the focal point for this segment. Participants will examine personal vision and determine a thrust for their leadership styles. They will look at the issues surrounding sending a clear and consistent message about"who" they are through the execution of their job requirements.

Managing Professional Arrogance: Strong leaders often have strong egos. This section of the workshop focuses on helping the leader to respond appropriately to those situations that threaten the leader's perception of control. The topics covered in this section will help the leader to achieve balance, confidence, flexibility and strong understandings regarding motivation of peers, subordinates and bosses to achieve ideal outcomes. The participants will receive guidance on handling difficult situations involving the personal egos and agendas of others.
